When I rebooted my blog in 2005, I named it The Remainder Table. The phrase had already made a few appearances in reading-related posts and it seemed fitting, since most of my books come from used book stores, library book sales, and remainder tables.
These days, it’s all about the serendipity. If I just wanted cheap books, I’d buy them online—or download the ebook. But that would be boring. Browsing through a stack of books, not know what you’re going to find, is a treasure hunt. And nothing’s better than discovering buried treasure.
The remainder table is a place of discovery, of second chances, of taking chances. It’s always an adventure. Join me?
