The September 2012 issue of Toasted Cheese (TC 12:3) is up! And I remembered to post about it π
New Toasted Cheese! Just in time for the weekend. Enjoy.
It includes a not-so-snarky Snark Zone by me.

And we’re off!
The Mini-Nano Challenge is to write 5,000 words in 30 days (or 167 words per day). It’s 1/10th of NaNoWriMo. Easy-peasy, right? Well, word-count-wise, anyway. My personal goal is to actually write a complete story, as opposed to just writing 5,000 words of… something bigger… that I just abandon like an unfinished freeway on the 30th. Hmm, I just thought of that, but yes. That’s what my fiction writing is like. Unfinished freeways. I need to build more side-roads.
Anyway. Today’s word count: 180 words.
Realized I forgot to mention my latest article… again. I really do suck at self-promo. Anyhoo! My new Absolute Blank article at TC is “Face Your Writing Fears.” It’s been getting some good (unsolicited!) feedback, so check it out! Bonus: photo of me with a snake π
Whoops! The June 2012 issue of Toasted Cheese (TC 12:2) has been up for a week. This is why I’ll never make it in marketing π Anyway, new Toasted Cheese! Go read!
Also, I wrote a review for our new section, Candle-Ends. If you think you might want to try your hand at writing a review, check out the guidelines here.
The March 2012 issue of Toasted Cheese (TC 12:1) is here!
I have a new Absolute Blank article up at TC: “Beyond NaNoWriMo: Writing Challenges for Everyone.”
The December issue of Toasted Cheese is up, with a Snark Zone on Tiggers & Eeyores by me.
The September issue of TCLJ β Toasted Cheese 11:3 β is here. Go. Read. π
And… I think I forgot to mention my last Absolute Blank article, so here it is: “Running a Literary Journal, Part 1: Choices.”
Also, we’re having a mini-NaNo-warmup challenge at the forums — a 5k short story — and if you complete the challenge & post your story you get a critique from me, the elusive Beav. Value: priceless. It’s not too late to join! Here’s this week’s thread.
This week at TC, our Daily Writing Thread (which is actually a weekly thread with daily updates) somehow digressed into a discussion of mac & cheese. Which got me wondering if I’d ever posted my recipe. I searched and it doesn’t look like it, so here it is:
3Β½ cups macaroni
ΒΌ cup butter
3 tbsp flour
ΒΌ tsp salt
1ΒΎ cups skim milk
1 tsp dry mustard
Β½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
2Β½ cups old cheddar cheese, grated (2 cups for cheesy mix, Β½ cup for topping)
1 cup bread crumbs
Recipe adapted from The Absolute Beginner’s Cookbook.
Whoops! Forgot to mention the June issue of TC — Toasted Cheese 11:2 — is up.
